What is the difference between a circular trampoline and a rectangular one?
A circular trampoline is ideal for families as they allow for multiple users and produce a safe bounce, whereas rectangular trampolines give a fantastic high performance bounce perfect for performing difficult tricks.
No, a trampoline is designed to withstand rain and wind. Any trampoline that states you must use a trampoline cover is not worth buying. However, trampoline covers although not necessary are very useful for several reasons.
- They keep the trampoline clean, free of leaves, sap and droppings.
- They keep the bed dry so you can go out and use your trampoline without the hassle of drying off your trampoline.
- The trampoline cover will protect the pads and bed from UV rays therefore prolonging there life.
- When the cover is on it gives a clear signal to children that the trampoline is not to be used.
Will a trampoline cover fit on my trampoline when I have a safety enclosure attached?
A trampoline cover is not designed to be used with a safety net. However, there is nothing stopping you from placing a trampoline cover over the bed and attaching it to the enclosure. Although this will not guarantee your trampoline stays dry it may offer some extra protection from rain and dirt.
How old should you be before you use a trampoline?
It is very important that all children are supervised. The trampoline safety guidelines recommend that children should be over the age of 6 before they can use a full size trampoline.
How can I make my trampoline safer?
There are several ways to ensure you stay safe on a trampoline:
- If possible use the thickest trampoline pads available.
- Use a safety net; this will stop children from falling off the trampoline. Ensure all enclosure poles are foam padded.
- Only allow one user at a time.
- Use a shoe bag to remove the hazard of loose shoes at the base of the trampoline.
- Make sure all children are supervised.
- Where possible position your trampoline on grass or play bark
- Do not bounce on the trampoline if the bed is wet.
Do I need a trampoline ladder?
A trampoline ladder is not really necessary if you are able to easily climb up onto the trampoline bed by yourself. Younger children may find a trampoline ladder very useful if they are too young to climb up. It will also save any adult having to repeatedly lift young children up on to the trampoline.
Can I use my trampoline when it's raining?
It is not advised to use a trampoline when its raining as the bed will be very slippy. If you wish to use your trampoline when its raining it might be worth investing in a trampoline tent. These can be found around the £40 - £80 mark and will allow you to be outside regardless of weather.
What should I do in high winds?
Trampolines especially the round one have been known to take off in windy weather, to stop this happening to you there are several options you can take:
- Buy a trampoline anchor kit. These are reasonably cheap and are designed to hold your trampoline in place in windy conditions.
This is probably the easiest and most reliable method. - Turn your trampoline upside down. This is presuming you do not have a safety enclosure attached.
- Remove your trampoline legs.
How much do trampolining lessons cost?
This can vary enormously; local council facilities will charge approx£2 - £3 per session. Trampoline clubs are more expensive and generally ask that you pay an annual club fee, you may also be asked to register with BAGA which costs £14.50 per annum. Competition fees are usually around £6 - £7 per event.
Can I use my trampoline on a slope on uneven ground?
If your trampoline is on a slope smaller than 15% or 1 in 7 then yes, providing you level out your trampoline by digging a trench.
To do this, dig a 3inch wide trench and X deep that when you place your uphill trampoline legs in the trampoline becomes level. Then support your downhill trampoline legs on timber blocks.
What tools do I need to assemble my climbing frame?
Most trampolines do not need any tools to erect the trampoline. If tools are required it will generally be an Allen key and these are often supplied with the package.
Can I use my trampoline in low temperatures?
Yes, most trampolines are designed to withstand all weather.
Will my trampoline be waterproof?
Almost all trampolines are waterproof. We do not recommend buying a trampoline if it is not waterproof.
Can I use my trampoline in snow/ice?
We do not recommend using a trampoline in ice as the bed will be very wet and slippy.
Can I sink my trampoline into the ground?
Sinking a trampoline into the ground can be a great idea as it is much safer, it is less
obtrusive
in the garden and is easier for younger children to use. We
recommend
digging a pit 2 inches less than the height of the trampoline; this will allow a gap to release the trapped air that is pushed inside when jumping.
If you live in a wet area we
recommend
you seek advice from a builder or gardener as your soil maybe too wet. Some areas may have a high water table therefore, we
recommend
digging a 1ft x 1ft trench along the diameter of the trampoline and fill with pea shingle or
similar.
How can I prolong the life of my trampoline?
One of the main reasons trampolines deteriorate is due to the sun weakening the PVC in the trampoline. To prolong the life of your trampoline we recommend covering your trampoline when not in use and storing it under shade.
No trampolines are not dangerous if they are used correctly and safely. To stay safe we recommend only letting one person on at a time, making sure all children are supervised and not bouncing if the trampoline is wet.
What other accessories can I buy for my trampoline?
There are many accessories available online and in shops, the 5 most common accessories are:
- Trampoline safety nets
- Trampoline covers
- Trampoline ladders
- Trampoline tents
- Trampoline anchors
Will grass still grow under my trampoline?
Yes grass will still grow under your trampoline as the trampoline bed still lets some light through. When mowing your lawn simply drag your trampoline out of the way.
How long does a trampoline take to assemble?
On average it takes about 30 mins to assemble a trampoline for the first time. Two or more people will help speed up the assembly time.
Can I get replacement parts for my trampoline?
Most companies will have a section where you can buy replacement parts for your trampoline. However it is worth checking to make sure this service is available before you buy your trampoline.
What things should I look for when buying a trampoline?
There are 3 main things to look for when buying a trampoline:
- Springs, you want to find a trampoline with the highest number of long springs to ensure you get a great bounce.
- Trampoline frame, this must be galvanised steel, aim for a frame which has a 10 year guarantee.
- Trampoline pads, aim for the thickest pads available, anything over 30mm is great.
What is the difference in prices of the same size trampolines?
The more expensive beds often use better materials and are of a higher quality. Beds maybe sewn better and trampolines may include more springs, the trampoline frame will be thicker and have a better grade of steel and trampoline pads will be thicker and longer lasting. Overall, the higher price you pay will reflect in the life and durability of your trampoline. Generally the better quality trampolines will have a longer warranty.
What happens if my trampoline breaks?
If your trampoline breaks it is important that you do not use it. Contact your manufacture and explain all damages as soon as possible so that all problems can be rectified. Before buying a trampoline we recommend looking at the manufactures guarantees as many parts maybe only covered if the problem has been caused buy rust not wear and tear.
Can I use my trampoline on a concrete, tarmac or patio surface?
Ideally trampolines are designed to be used on grass as the trampoline will sink into the ground preventing it from moving and reduce the vibrations on the trampoline frame. However, you can use a trampoline on hard surfaces except the trampoline will move slightly on each bounce. To minimise the trampoline moving and reduce wear and tear we recommend cushioning the trampoline leg bases.
Can I leave my trampoline out all year round?
Yes, trampolines are designed to be left outside all year round. To ensure your trampoline stays in great condition we recommend covering your trampoline when it is not in use.
How long do trampoline springs last?
The duration of a spring's life is completely affected by how often you use your trampoline. If you bounce more often your springs will wear quicker. To ensure your trampoline springs stay in top condition we recommend you:
- Don't overload your trampoline
- Bounce in the centre of the bed
- Do not land directly onto the springs
- Buy the best
quality
springs you can afford
Yes adults can use a trampoline as long as they do not exceed the maximum weight limit. Remember only one person can go on a trampoline at a time!
Can you dismantle trampolines?
Yes trampolines can be dismantled, but it can be hard work and is not recommended to do often as it may weaken the trampoline.
